The health and safety of our community and staff is our top priority.

We want to thank you for assisting us in this challenging time. By following government restrictions and advice, you are keeping our community safe.

These past few months have been difficult for families everywhere. At Rookwood General Cemetery, we've been making changes to our services during COVID-19 to ensure we remain committed to keeping everyone safe while remembering the lives of their loved ones.

The NSW Government has announced further easing of restrictions from Monday 1 June 2020. As a result, we are updating our procedures as part of the measured plan to return to normalcy and business-as-usual.

From 1 June, in accordance with NSW Government restrictions:

  • Outdoor funerals and wakes – up to 50 people, subject to the 1 person per 4 square metre rule
  • Indoor funerals – subject to the 1 person per 4 square metre rule: see below (live streaming is available in the All Souls).
  • Funeral directors are required to record the names and telephone numbers of all persons attending a service
  • Outdoor gatherings can have up to 10 people.
  • Village Café at Rookwood is available for take-away and will seat up to 10 patrons at any one time.
  • Village Functions at Rookwood is taking bookings for memorial events scheduled from Monday 1 June 2020.
  • All venues are still restricted with the social distancing rule of 1 person per 4 square metres. To assist families, we have measured each space to determine the maximum capacity allowed.

To keep the community safe we have cancelled all events and tours, including HIDDEN Rookwood Sculptures. Over the coming months we will be announcing virtual tours and events. We will update you on new initiatives to connect with your loved ones in Rookwood soon.

Please be assured that we are here to help families through this difficult time and we will continue to implement safety measures to keep our community safe.

When visiting the cemetery, please ensure that you do so in accordance with NSW Government restrictions and we urge you to follow advice regarding social distancing.
