Last updated 4.04pm, 3 August 2020

The health and safety of our community and staff is our top priority.

We want to thank you for assisting us in this challenging time. By following government restrictions and advice, you are keeping our community safe. These past months have been difficult for families everywhere. At Rookwood General Cemetery, we've been making changes to our services during COVID-19 to ensure we remain committed to keeping everyone safe while remembering the lives of their loved ones.

In accordance with NSW Government restrictions:

  • The maximum number of people who may attend a funeral or memorial service or a gathering following a funeral or memorial service, is the lesser of one person per 4 square metres or 100 people. Funerals at outdoor public places or a place of residence are subject to the same limits. See below (live streaming is available in the All Souls).
  • Funeral directors are required to record the names and telephone numbers of all persons attending a service.
  • Outdoor gatherings can have up to 20 people.
  • Village Café at Rookwood is available for take-away and will seat up to 10 patrons at any one time.
  • Village Functions at Rookwood are open for bookings.

  • All chapels will be cleaned after each service, meeting rooms after each meeting, and offices at the end of each day.
  • We will no longer be accepting payment via cash for any of our services. Please assist us by making alternative arrangements, such as paying by credit card, direct deposit, or cheque.
  • Burial and cremation services will continue to be offered 7 days per week, however office hours have temporarily changed to 7.30am - 4.00pm. The office will be closed on weekends, with Client Services representatives available via phone on Saturdays (9.00am – 1.00pm) and Sundays (9.00am – 3.00pm).
  • COVID-19 has affected the shipping and importing of materials all over the world, and as such we are experiencing delays in delivering memorial orders. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.

When visiting the cemetery, please ensure that you do so in accordance with NSW Government restrictions and we urge you to follow advice regarding social distancing.
