Organising a funeral can be a very traumatic experience. Not only does the loss of a loved one lead to enormous emotional pressures, but making quick and effective decisions about funeral arrangements can be a huge burden.
Most people shop around or gather information before making large purchases. However with a burial or cremation usually taking place within a week of the person having passed away, it helps to have a bit of an understanding about the whole process, before you need it.
In this section you'll find information on:
- The difference between burying and cremating
- How to purchase a grave
- Funeral Directors and their role
- Having a chapel service at the cemetery
- Understanding grief
The most important thing to know though is who to turn to when you need to plan for a funeral:
- The Cemetery - to pre-purchase a plot or organise an ash interment (ie the placement of ashes in the ground only)
- The Funeral Director - to organise a burial or cremation
- The Stonemason - to organise a memorial
Please note:
- 'Open/Vacant' - refers to the first interment
- 'Reopen' - refers to the second interment as a burial has already taken place in the grave
Please note that a funeral booking can only be organised through a Funeral Director.
