Rookwood’s lawns comprise of a grass covering with a headstone at the head of each allotment. These culturally specific grounds offer families a peaceful location to farewell and remember a loved one.

Chinese Lawns

Rookwood’s Chinese lawns are characterised by traditional Chinese headstones, sprawling hills, and views of the cemetery’s magnificent Chinese World War II Memorial Pavilion.

 

Islamic Lawns

Rookwood’s Islamic lawns reflect Islamic values and customs. Our interment services within these lawns are conducted in accordance with the noble teachings of Islam.

 

Jewish Lawns

Rookwood’s Jewish lawns are consecrated Jewish burial grounds, located near the Beit Tephilla. Our interment services within these lawns are customised to reflect community values.

 

Eastern Orthodox / Greek Lawns

Rookwood’s Greek lawns are characterised by culturally specific headstones, often incorporating the Greek Cross at the head of each allotment.

 

Macedonian Orthodox Lawns

Rookwood’s Macedonian lawns are characterised by culturally specific headstones, often incorporating the Veljusa Cross at the head of each allotment.

 

Serbian Orthodox Lawns

Rookwood’s Serbian lawns are characterised by culturally specific headstones, often incorporating the traditional Serbian cross at the head of each allotment.

 

Armenian Lawn

Rookwood’s new Armenian lawn, which was blessed by His Grace Bishop Haigazoun Najarian of the Armenian Church of Australia and New Zealand, is situated next to the beautifully refurbished Armenian Shrine.

 

Lutheran Lawn

Rookwood’s Lutheran lawn is characterised by minimalistic headstones, set amidst bountiful greenery.

 

Maori Lawn

Rookwood’s dedicated Maori lawn reflects the values of the Maori community. Our interment services within this lawn incorporate traditional Islander customs.

 

Multi-Denominational Lawns

Rookwood’s Anglican, Presbyterian, and Methodist lawns date back to 1867 when the cemetery was first established. These unique areas, along with our non-denominational lawns, offer families a range of beautiful headstones and serene backdrops.

 

Children's Lawns

Rookwood has a dedicated baby and children’s lawn, along with a Circle of Love Memorial that honours the lives of children. These beautiful areas provide families with a much needed place of remembrance and respect.
